Ahmedabad: Harassed by daugher-in-law, woman ingests poison

A 62-year-old woman from the Raipur area of city on Thursday ingested poison due to the alleged harassment by her daughter-in-law, states an FIR filed at Khadia police station.

In her FIR, Chandrika Khatri, a resident of Koda ni Pol in Raipur, stated that her son's wife, Sushila Khatri, 32, harassed and taunted her over trivial household matters.

She alleged that Sushila had on Thursday afternoon picked a fight with her over the domestic chores. "Sushila told me to finish the chores and she if I did not do so, she would beat me. Abusing me, she had also threatened to kill me," Chandrika alleged in the FIR.

Fed up with the quarrels with her daughter-in-law, Chandrika ingest about 30ml of mosquito repellent in an attempt to kill herself. She then informed her son, Jignesh, 32. Jignesh rushed home and took her to the Asarwa Civil Hospital.

In many cases, Men who consider themselves responsible for their family, once faced with future doom, often kill their family before killing themselves; in order to avoid future atrocities which would happen to their family once the head of the family (man) is gone. This is a serious problem and such trend is increasing.

Rajasthan: Woman Kills Mother-in-Law to Hide own Extramarital Affair

A woman in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan allegedly killed her mother-in-law with a snakebite. According to reports, the woman had been engaged in an extramarital affair with a man from Jaipur. The man and his friend have also reportedly been arrested in connection to the murder. 

India Today reports that the woman and her mother-in-law used to stay in the village alone as their husbands were serving the Indian Army and had been deployed out of station. The woman had gotten married to the victim's son in 2018.
